What is Pinata?

Prisma has partnered with Pinata, which is a rent loyalty program that will strengthen your relationship with your renters and help them build their financial health. Each month, we: 

What are the benefits your renters will receive? 

1) Rent rewards: we give points to renters who pay rent in full and on time each month. 

They can spend these points on gift cards (eg to Amazon, Target, Starbucks; and on gas, groceries and pharma expenses), on home items (eg kitchenware, home decor, etc), and on tickets for big giveaways (eg big screen TVs, Le Creuset pots, Roomba vacuums)

2) Credit building: we report rent payments to the credit bureaus to build renters’ credit history and score. 

This is meant to have a positive impact on renters’ credit reports (40-60 points in the first quarter alone, 100+ points over the course of a lease). For every positive report to the bureaus we also celebrate by awarding more Points, and we make it easy for renters to a) track their history of payments reported to the bureaus, b) engage with bite-size credit education modules, and c) see their actual credit score as it changes over time.

How do residents access their Pinata Points and rent reporting history?

It’s easy for residents to access their Pinata benefits. They can download the Prisma app to their mobile phones (we’re available on the App Store for iPhones and Google Play for Android), or just visit Prisma’s Resident Portal.

Important: when logging in for the first time, residents must enter the email address on file with your property management software. We get this email address from you on your monthly enrollment reports, and use this email to verify renters’ identities and recognize them as users entitled to your property. 

How does Pinata protect residents’ data and privacy?

Prisma and Pinata are committed to protecting privacy and meet the stringent privacy and data protection standards set by major partners like national banks and other financial institutions, Freddie Mac, and the three credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion). Personal information is protected by physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in compliance with applicable U.S. federal and state regulations. We also use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption. 

Your personal data is only used to deliver Pinata reward, credit reporting, and member perks services. Pinata does not pass or sell your data to third parties, and they encrypt all key personal data. They can NEVER see information like your social security number or bank account credentials.
